REMEMBER REMEMBER’(Rock Action - November 17th)
Members: Graeme J.D Ronald
Additional Musicians: James Swinburne (sax), Joan Sweeney (Violin)

Based in Glasgow, Scotland Remember Remember has been playing
elaborately staged shows in and around the city for the past few years,
originally the solo project of Graeme Ronald (ex-Multiplies, ex-The
Royal We) 2007 saw R.R start to collaborate with additional musicians
and the results have been some of the most epic-sounding and
ambitious music to emerge from the city in a long time.
Recently signed to Mogwai’s Rock Action label Remember Remember
presents a self-titled debut album in November 2008. Recorded in and
around Glasgow it’s a bewildering mix of loops, innovative samples and
live instrumentation. Having shared the stage with the likes of
Harmonia, Stars of The Lid, Fuck Buttons and Mogwai Remember
Remember has developed a reputation for a unique live show, not many
bands base their songs around samples of wind-up toys, everyday fruit
or the sound of Irn Bru after all. Comparisons have even been drawn
with the likes of Michel Gondry and Andy Kaufman.
There is no denying that there is a playful aesthetic to Remember
Remember, it’s all part of the charm. Musically however R.R takes
entirely different cues, drawing on more cerebral influences than most,
but without the po-faced seriousness and self-importance of some.
Remember Remember is as much a Modern Classical piece as it is a
‘drone’ or ‘post-rock’ record. Indeed, the final 4 tracks of; How Did You
End Up Like This?, Imagining Things (i) & (ii) and Up In A Blue Light
comprise an epic 30 minute suite while The Dancing nods towards a
Techno influence untapped by most contemporary composers. In short,
this debut is a record that truly highlights R.R as one of the brightest
emerging talents of 2008.
If you’re a fan of the likes of Mice Parade or Animal Collective along
with artists such as Philip Glass, Brian Eno and Yann Tiersen then you
really should take the time to check out this incredible record.
